A high profile Antifa was arrested for arson (reportedly with 3 people inside the building to which he set fire) and possible “bias crimes” against a mosque and 2 different Jewish synagogues. The mosque, the Muslim Community Center of Portland, was the first in the state and it “serve’s the city’s Black Muslim Community” reports the Oregonian.
Some of you will be familiar with the name; Mike Bivins. He’s one of those local “journalists” who write local “news” who are embedded within the black bloc and whose “reporting” and live streaming is allowed by Antifa. They normally break cameras and attack anyone trying to record them so it is always suspicious when certain people like Mike Bivins or Alissa Azar aren’t attacked by Antifa as they record and photograph only certain things. It’s about narrative control.
As Jackson Richman reported for Mediaite…
Bivins, a freelance journalist, has written for Al Jazeera, Willamette Week, The Eugene Weekly and other publications, and been cited in The Washington Post.
Aaron Mesh, news editor of the Willamette Week, said the paper is “conducting a review of his work.”
Victoria Taft reported for PJ Media…
Bivins’s rash of attacks began on April 30, 2022, at Congregation Shir Tikvah and continued at Congregation Beth Israel on May 2 with pro-Nazi graffiti written outside and evidence of a small fire. The following day, police say, Bivins set fire to the Muslim Community Center of Portland, which was full of people. No one was hurt. The next day, Bivins is alleged to have attacked Congregation Beth Israel again by hurling a rock through the window of the synagogue.
The Oregonian reported that Bivins is credited with writing or co-writing many pieces for Willamette Week. He’s also written for the Oregonian and others. According to Victoria Taft for PJ Media…
Bivins’s video work has been seen on national news stations over the years. He gained notoriety during the explosion of Antifa violence before the 2016 election.
Portland Police asked for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in an arsonist and possible “bias crime”. They announced in a bulletin…
On May 3, 2022, at around 6:48pm, an individual was captured by surveillance cameras pouring an undetermined type of accelerant on the back of the Muslim Community Center of Portland’s building, then lighting the substance on fire. After unsuccessfully starting the building on fire, the suspect tried a second time. Fortunately, there was only minor damage to the structure. Portland Police Bureau's Arson Investigator and a Portland Fire & Rescue Investigator are working together to investigate this crime.
The following video was embedded in the bulletin in an early update along with still images from the video…
In “Update #2”, they added…
The same suspect involved is believed to be connected to a recent broken window vandalism. The ongoing investigation revealed that a large window pane was broken on April 30, 2022 at about 10:30p.m. at the Congregation Shir Tikvah/Eastside Jewish Commons at 2420 Northeast Sandy Boulevard.
They also included the following photo and description…
In “Update 3” they added…

Bivins was arrested with the assistance of the Beaverton Police Department after he visited a television news station where he demanded to speak to a reporter. A Beaverton Police Detective followed up, coordinated with Portland Police, and Bivins was taken into custody. The Portland Police Bureau is grateful to the Portland Fire & Rescue Investigation Unit, the Beaverton Police Department, and KPTV staff for their assistance and collaboration in this case.
According to a report by Mediaite…
A station employee also told Oregon Public Broadcasting that Bivins was making anti-Semitic remarks.
They also announce that they could use the public’s help with info about the crimes and/or Bivins in an ongoing investigation with “further charges possible” and that they are in contact with federal authorities with regard to this. Victoria Taft writes for PJ Media…
Attacking houses of worship is considered a civil rights violation and possible terrorism. Federal officials have been asked to get involved to investigate possible civil rights and hate crimes, and terrorist connections.
She also reported…
Bivins was still on the streets with Antifa during the “summer of love” riots. Indeed, he filed a tort claim “against the Federal Protective Service after being struck by a munition at a protest,” according to alternative weekly Willamette Week.
WW reports that Bivins has been working at Oregon Health and Sciences University in “nursing resource management at [OHSU] … and was a freelance reporter for news outlets, including Willamette Week and Eugene Weekly, covering the polarization and violence in city streets following the election of President Donald Trump. He reported primarily on clashes between Antifa and its adversaries, such as the Proud Boys. Bivins sold photos and videos of street conflict to national and local outlets. His last story filed for WW was in 2019. WW is “conducting a review of his work,” the outlet reported.
Zane Sparling reported for the Oregonian…
A prolific livestreamer of protests, Bivins occasionally shared his video with various news organizations, including The Oregonian/OregonLive.
Bivins approached a KPTV reporter on Wednesday and said he committed the crimes, showing the reporter a hammer and ice pick he said he had used to break windows, according to a source at the television station who wasn’t authorized to speak to other media.
The station employee quoted Bivins as saying: “I’m not going to stop.”
“He made a point to say, ‘When people find out it’s me committing these things, they’re going to be shocked,’” the employee said.
Wearing blue jail scrubs, Bivins flashed a grin as he walked into the secure courtroom inside Multnomah County’s downtown Portland jail and made several exaggerated eye rolls and lip curls. He then asked officials if he could represent himself during the half-hour proceedings.
Circuit Judge Benjamin S. Johnston strongly encouraged Bivins to work with a court-appointed attorney handling most cases on the docket that day, noting the arraignment is “merely procedural.”
The attorney is “just here for a short proceeding. Imagine a nurse prepping your leg for surgery,” said Johnston, noting that Bivins can still represent himself at a later point.
…also…
The judge ultimately set bail at $45,000 and ordered Bivins to stay at least 150 feet away from all three religious buildings.
That figure conflicts with the $270,000 figure Victoria Taft reported for PJ Media. Sparling continues for the Oregonian…
Bivins told police he was unemployed and homeless for the past six months, mostly living outside but usually spending two nights a week at his mother’s home. He said he had not been diagnosed with any mental health issues, court records show.
Victoria Taft reported furthermore…
Friends told the alt-weekly that Bivins had grown more erratic during the pandemic and had recently expressed anti-immigrant sentiments on his social media. His Twitter account has been largely scrubbed.
Portland Mercury, a pro-Antifa alternative weekly, elided Bivins’ far-Left ties in a story entitled, “Attacks on Three Religious Centers Underscore Rising Hate Crimes in Oregon.” One of Mercury’s reporters was actively involved in announcing the location of Andy Ngo at a protest, knowing the demonstrators wanted to attack him. Antifa has sent Ngo to the hospital with a brain injury, tossed a wet cement “milkshake” on his head, and chased and beat him in downtown Portland.
here’s the deal: within antifa, some are violent in ways that are detrimental to the image of an antifascist—but thats about the worst of it, whereas w the right-wingers you have racists & white supremacists mixed into the groups that come to portland to protest. which is worse?Reporters were only too happy to work together with Bivins to tell a story about “right wing extremism,” including the local PBS affiliate as well as Willamette Week.
Further down they conclude…
One of Bivins’s Twitter accounts apparently hasn’t been updated since 2018, but he kept a blog that comes up with a DNS warning when one attempts to read it. Another of his Twitter accounts has posts about Joe and Hunter Biden being corrupt. His video work is still available on YouTube. Bivins’s allies appear to have created a Wikipedia page for him to announce that he’s a “former multi media journalist.”
Believe it or not, Portland’s far-Left district attorney filed seven serious charges and set bail at $270,000 for Bivins.
That figure conflicts with the $45,000 the Oregonian reported.
I owe it to the Post Millennial (which Bivin’s lies about, calling it “far-right” just like Antifa does) for reporting on this, making my research easier. However, I notice some additional things. Not long ago, he tweeted this…

To be fair, he has also tweeted that the band “Rotting Christ” sounds like a band he would want to see and he expressed disdain for some Hindu content.
Among Bivin’s followers are @Johnnthelefty, @GregoryMcKelvey, and, if you are willing to scroll through you will find he is followed by various Antifa accounts.
He recently retweeted an Antifa , tweeted this…

I encourage the reader to look through his social media and see what else they can find. Please tell me in the comments! Thanks!
Now, of course, though Islam and Judaism are religions and not ethnic groups, many people would consider what Bivin’s is accused of doing to be racist acts. Certainly, Antifa would call these racist hate crimes. Thus it is more than fair to consider this to allegedly be yet an other case of Antifa Being Racist.
Thank you. ~ Justin Case
