Note: This is not a pro-war or pro-Russian piece. This is not a condemnation of Ukraine. This is an anti-hypocrisy piece.
Just so we are all clear, the ADL now endorses Nazism.
Just to make sure this is not forgotten in the ceaseless torrent of news and propaganda, the ADL now endorses Nazism.
Just so they can be proven wrong when they inevitably deny it in the future, the ADL now endorses Nazism.
Yes, that ADL, the Anti-Defamation League, the one that describes itself thusly…
ADL is a leading anti-hate organization that was founded in 1913 in response to an escalating climate of antisemitism and bigotry. Today, ADL is the first call when acts of antisemitism occur and continues to fight all forms of hate. A global leader in exposing extremism, delivering anti-bias education and fighting hate online, ADL’s ultimate goal is a world in which no group or individual suffers from bias, discrimination or hate.
On March 4th, 2022, the ADL published these words…
Yes, some members of these ultra-nationalist groups have used Nazi insignia, made Hitler salutes, and used antisemitic rhetoric, but they are politically insignificant and in no way representative of Ukraine.
They admit that they have…
seen torchlit marches in the middle of Kyiv with the red and black flags of UPA (the WWII-era Ukrainian Insurgent Army) and pictures of Stepan Bandera, who allied with the Nazis during WWII.
They say that for Jews…
not only is allying with the Nazis unforgivable under any circumstance, but historians have documented that Ukrainian nationalists participated together with Germans in the murder of many thousands of Jews in Ukraine.
They acknowledge…
There are neo-Nazis in Ukraine
They are right when they point out that there are neo-Nazis…
in the U.S., and in Russia for that matter
…but they would not hesitate to condemn neo-Nazis in other situations when it doesn’t conflict with the agenda of the Democrat Party. They take it a lot further than that. For example, recently, when a news outlet was critical of a rich political player they said it was anti-Semitism, “however unwitting”, because that person happens to be Jewish, even if “no antisemitic insinuation is intended”.
They make the argument that the neo-Nazis in Ukraine do not represent Ukraine as a whole, which is true, but beside the point. The point is that they excuse actual neo-Nazism who are armed and trained to kill because, they say, there aren’t many of them but they condemn criticism of a person because that criticism could be called anti-Semitism by some people if they are uninformed, irrational and/or dishonest enough, even if it was not anti-Semitic in reality.
So, if it serves the Democrat agenda, that which is not anti-Semitic is anti-Semitic and that which is anti-Semitic is not anti-Semitic.
The point is that they are excusing neo-Nazism out of hypocrisy. They are not alone, of course. For example, Facebook is also hypocritical on this matter and others. They are corrupt partisans, not principled anti-racists.
The point is that they say it is anti-Semitic for right-wing sources to criticize people if those people happen to be Jewish and they excuse actual, intentional, neo-Nazism and anti-Semitism if it serves the Democrat Party.
The ADL pisses on its own history.
Shame on the ADL.
