ARRESTED!
Benjamin Anthony Varela has been arrested by Olympia Police for the shooting of a Proud Boy named Tiny at the Olympia Intercity Transit Center on September 4th, 2021. He has been charged with 1st degree assault with a deadly weapon.
This author can’t help but wonder if these keystone caper cops got this right. After all, they got the date of the shooting wrong and had to be corrected.
“Whoops”? Their interim police chief would retire soon after.
But I digress.

The shooting…

The following video was apparently recorded in the polygraph room on September 23rd (uploaded by The JOLT News, Andy Ngo uploaded the footage as well).
At 5:05pm the Olympia Police Department tweeted...

…STATEMENT OF PROBABLE CAUSE…
…The shooting happened at the IT Transit Center, 222 State Ave NE…
…The suspect was at the back of this group of about twelve. Tusitala physically engaged the suspect; possibly hitting him with a baton. The suspect appears to use pepper spray to spray Tusitala. A person associated with Tusitala then shoves the suspect, forcing him into the bushes just off of the sidewalk. The suspect runs northwest on the sidewalk about fifteen to thirty feet, retrieves a handgun from his waist area, turns, and fires multiple bullets at/towards Tusitala and those near or in close proximity to Tusitala. The suspect fires five rounds and then runs northwest across and off IT Transit property.
Tusitala was hit by one bullet in his left foot.
There were five 9mm shell casings left at the scene…
…While investigating this case, to include reviewing multiple sources of security video, I was able to find the suspect prior to the shooting on City Hall security video…
...The suspect is seen approaching City Hall holding the hand of another individual. This individual is wearing all black clothing, but what stands out is a large grayish square patch on the back of this person’s jacket. The patch has some type of design/picture on it. The suspect and this person are seen together and occasionally holding hands while at City Hall on security video.
Later during the shooting, the person seen earlier holding hands with the suspect is seen on IT Transit security video during the shooting. This person now has their facial mask removed and the quality of the video is of good enough quality that we are able to see hand, knuckle, facial tattoos, and dark black hair with a straight bang style haircut. These tattoos are later matched with other data bases detailed below. The person is wearing the same jacket with the same large grayish square patch on it.
…Today, 09/23/21, Benjamin Varela was arrested on probable cause for a malicious mischief, case 21-4690, at about 1242 hours. During that arrest we were able to confirm that Benjamin Varela has a tattoo on the underside of his left forearm that is consistent with a tattoo/mark seen on security video and a tattoo on his upper right arm that is consistent with what is seen, part of the same tattoo, on security video…
…I advised Benjamin that he was under arrest for Assault 1st Degree for shooting another person.
…I had obtained a search warrant for XXXXXX and during that search warrant had found a handgun in a locked container under the sole bed in the sole bedroom. Also in the container was Jessica OConnor’s Covid Card and Credit Card. Jessica told me the handgun was not hers and it belonged to Benjamin. She told me all guns and gun related items belonged to Benjamin.
She turned on him! Snitch!
I, through investigation, have determined that I have probable cause to charge Benjamin Varela with Assault 1st Degree for shooting Tusitala Toese on September 4th 2021 at XXXXXXX in Olympia…

Andy Ngo wrote about the arrest in “Antifa member charged with shooting anti-vaxxer in Washington” published on September 27th by the New York Post. Along with info already covered in my more more in-depth report, Ngo reports…
An Antifa member with a long history of posting far-left extremist content online…
…Varela, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, deleted most of his social media accounts before his arrest, but posts still available on Twitter show he corresponded back and forth with the Spokane and Olympia DSA chapters as well as Libcom.org, an anarchist-Communist website. Prior to deleting his Twitter account, his bio read, “professional anarchist, thug, and paid protester.” His YouTube account, which is still online but doesn’t have any videos available to the public, features a red and black Antifa flag as its profile image. According to the affidavit, Varela ran into an alley behind the Union Gospel Mission after the shooting and discarded his black uniform.
“The suspect is seen removing his outer clothing and changing into the bright yellowish/greenish t-shirt,” wrote an Olympia Police detective in the criminal complaint. “The suspect discarded his black t-shirt and beanie/watch cap in the alley.”
Varela is a member of the forums at website Something Awful using the screen name “Doorknob Slobber.” He has a long history of making extremist posts and has been suspended repeatedly by the moderators. In a 2017 thread discussing Antifa’s organizational structure, Varela wrote, “I think it has something to do with … remaining decentralized in an effort to create cells instead of an organization structure that is easily targeted by law enforcement and other fascists.”
At the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, Varela wrote: “Start hurting people, the coronavirus is going to provide great cover for a real revolution.” He called for people to take up arms. The same month, he posted a rant wishing that both conservatives and liberals die of the coronavirus. In 2018, he wrote, “9/11 was good because the US is a Nazi state so we deserved it.”
The criminal complaint says the police interviewed Varela’s live-in girlfriend, Jessica Lynn O’Connor, 34, who admitted they attended the direct action together on Sept. 4 while in black attire. The detective obtained a search warrant for their property and found a handgun under the bed.
“Jessica told me the handgun was not hers and it belonged to Benjamin. She told me all guns and gun-related items belonged to Benjamin,” the affidavit says.
Varela is being held on $100,000 bail in Thurston County Jail. His arraignment is set for Oct. 5. It is unknown if he has retained an attorney. Days ahead of his arrest, a popular Olympia-based Antifa account on Twitter alerted the public that one of their comrades had been visited by agents with the FBI and ATF.
Someone who thought they were rather clever tweeted the following poke at Andy who has been “milk-shaked” in the past.
Notice that they mistook Jessica for a man.
Andy’s snapback is dryer than the Sahara. He simply corrects @JohnsonSweeps about the drink and the sex of the individual. @JohnsonSweeps is left clearly the bad guy. What an asshole!

The Olympian published“Bail set for man accused of shooting Proud Boy on Sept. 4. Here’s how police found him”. Here are a few quotes from this article…
An Olympia man accused of shooting a Proud Boys member on Sept. 4 is being held in Thurston County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail…
…Judge John Skinder found probable cause for the crime during Varela’s preliminary hearing Friday in Thurston County Superior Court. He set the bail amount, citing a concern Varela may commit a violent crime, according to court records…
…Varela’s arraignment is set for Oct. 5. A pretrial services screening document notes he has no known criminal history.

Benjamin is not exactly the big, strong, virulent man that he would need to be to prevent himself from being a prison-bitch. In fact, as some note, he seems rather like a stereotypical wimpy nerd type.
I wonder if he prefers jelly or syrup when he’s tossing someone’s salad.
